Over level 40, you can't see up and u need to remember all the placement to follow. Besides that i'm pretty sure with one fortune teller and bath you can loop nonstop
yeah, i reached over 100 floors with the bath-fortune teller-statue infloop (i also added some medusas in order to make some gems… but i am sure there are better gem making rooms in there)
Bottomless Pit doesn’t seem to fill a row for the purposes of Bath: I finished the bottom row by placing Bottomless Pit, and the Bath in the bottom row didn’t activate.
So, this was fun and addictive, to a point, but it seems to me to have a crucial issue (at least for me) which is that there is no actual threat, except wasting one's time.
Perhaps that is "by design", as the intro does mention the goal is to escape "the loop of rebirth and defeat", but to me, that corresponds to what feels like a loop of gameplay with no real stakes.
That is, it seems like one could not even try to do anything in particular, and there would be no defeat, just wasted time.
And so if one does try to progress, one generally can, and resources will accumulate, and eventually, the player will get everything, and eventually be declared winner, even if they barely try.
SO the only thing REALLY at stake, is how much time the player has to play to win . . .
Which, to me, adds up to realizing the game amounts to an inevitably successful chore. OR, I can win even more, by stopping playing.
this absolutely fantastic, I love the Castlevania twist and I found it super addictive! there was a bit of a balance issue in my opinion as a sort of 'deck builder' most of the upgrades I could buy made the gameplay harder in some ways, but overall this is a sick concept that is super well executed!! you should be really proud!
Loved it! I hope you can expand it. Some suggestions:
- add a reset button
- the meaning of "adjacent" may not be clear for everyone, I wasn't sure until I saw the pieces in action, some graphical hint would be nice
- save game option (I used the web version, not sure if it's more limited)
- more ways to overcome the row/column restrictions
- when we add more epitaphs, I was expecting that every time I used one, I would get a new secret. Apparently there are only a few and each makes a message appear only once, they all look the same so a random one would show a new secret, the others do nothing after the first use. Find a way to make this clearer in the game
This can be a very addictive game with more balanced mechanics. I'd love to see a plot or more story elements in it. I'll be following it :)
it's been a minute since i played,, but there's a block which gives you money when you place blocks next to it. all you need is a money block and a copying block really :)!
I love this game - absolutely brilliant. And well done for making it into the GMTK video too.
(If you are looking to do more on this, I think there is a minor bug when your castle gets high - some of the rooms disappear as you put them on the board. I saw this a few games in a row when I was getting to around c. level 70+)
SoflockI softlocked myself when field doesn't have any space for the throne room over level 45. Expected to see secret especially for this case, but it's just a bug :(. Love this game!
hmmm.. interesting. My guess is that it's some issue with alchemy. If you give me your save file, i can take a look at it, see if i can fix it. You should be able to find the save file in C:\Users\{your_username}\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\gmtk-jam-2025\saves
So, I can build all the rooms, but nothing happens when I build the throne room. I run out of my original rooms, and nothing happens. No rebuy, no heroes. Maybe it's broken on Brave?
It might be Brave yeah. im using an experimental branch of Godot for web to C# builds, so I wouldn't be suprised if there are compatibility issues with certain browsers.
Id try downloading the PC build and see if you run into the same issue
This is a very fun game. I feel like the balancing usually makes it fun to build the tower, but frequently you get a horrendous deck with all your gold at the bottom and your castle is really short. Still, the game was satisfying and I'm glad it was recommended to me. Needs a funny ending where the hero struggles to climb all 20 floors and Draftula wins.
That mech must have an insane fighting style since he hovers around and has the grapple arms; I dig it. XD
Hey idk if your interested in people telling you bugs here, but if you dont have money for any tiles, and the money appears as red on the left, and then place a tile that gives you money, it's still red even tho I can buy the tiles. Love the game btw.
cant install via itch launcher, it says "no compatible downloads were found". i think one of the packages needs to be flagged in some way on your end so that the launcher knows what to install

The game kind of breaks at height 58 or so
Oh this is neat! Something like a vertical-stack version of Castles of Mad King Ludwig, but maybe slightly less complex.

Some issues with the text here... ^^;

I got to 20 but nothing seemed to happen! :(
All the same very fun and addictive game
That was fun!
A nice game to be sure.
One word, addictive. My tallest tower was 23
Very fun game! I'm sure Tetris is a great comparison, but it is super fun and very addicting! An absolute joy, hope to see more from you!
this was literally so much fun! Would love an endless mode !! Thank you so much!!
Awesome game! Coolest roguelite I've played in a long while.
i made it infinite... freaking awesome game, this was so much fun!!! i couldn't see the top of my build at the end but that's ok!!!!! amazing game!!!!
HOly shit. That's crazy!! Congrats and I'm glad you liked it!
That’s awesome. Was it actually infinite? How did you get the money to keep placing that room?

I had a lot of fun not only getting to 20 but beating my score.
Love this game!
Thanks for the heads up and I'm glad you've been enjoying it so much.
Congrats on hitting level 45 though damn!
Just updated the game with some fixes. This should be fixed now!
how do you use the bottomless pit
Since it's not an overhang, it requires you to place it in a T shaped hole (where there are rooms beneath each of its columns.
umm why at night 15 my screen is like this

umm i played at browser so i cant give save file
This is fun, nice job!
Thank You! I'm glad you liked it!
small bug? I can build overhand buildings above empty space (once it has scrolled out from play area). Other than that, great game!
Excellent presentation, fun basic loop. Needs a year counter to let us know the goal is to finish as fast as possible.
RIP. Thanks for the bug report. I'll look into getting that fixed!
Ooh good idea on the counter!
neat
Thanks!

Same thing happened to me (Windows, Firefox).
I think I solved the issue. When you get the chance, give it another go and let me know if it is still happening for you.
Solved--now there's a game there instead of a single level! :-)
Finished it. It's quite good. The right length, not trivial but not so hard as to be unapproachable. Very satisfying.

I can see the guys invading my castle! Hooray! Now to play the game.
: )

I don't get this game. Is there a lose condition?

Ah. Thanks for the heads up!
i can't get past floor 38
Oh damn. I think the upper limit is like 40. I didn't expect people to get up that high.
Out of all the games I tried from the jam this is the one I most likely want to see become a full game
cant install via itch launcher, it says "no compatible downloads were found". i think one of the packages needs to be flagged in some way on your end so that the launcher knows what to install
Amazing! I am shocked you managed to come up with this in 4 days!
Stackula?
incredibly fun
This was very addicting! Loved it
nice robot
Thanks!
I sincerely hope you keep working on this for a full game after the jam
This is great, no wonder it scored so high. I could play this forever :)
