Halloween Update and Web Build!
Hello everyone, and Happy Halloween!
Since Draftula is a spooky-adjacent type game, I’ve been putting together a special treat for today. I’m proud to announce a Halloween Update for Draftula. It comes with new art, new content, and the big news.. A WEB BUILD!! Now you can stack rooms from the comfort of your own browser, no downloads required!
Why is it being on the web a big deal? Doesn’t Godot already let you do web builds?
Well, only if you code in GDScript. If you are like me, and all of your tooling is built in C#, then you are kind of out of luck. That is until a couple months ago thanks to the work done here. For me, C# web builds have been a long time coming, and this is a game changer for me for this and all my future projects.
If you run into issues, please let me know. C# web exporting is still highly experimental (it isn’t out on the mainline version of Godot), so any issues you find are not only this game, but could help iron out all future work done on this feature.
And for good measure, I’ve also updated the PC download for folks who’d rather play it on their computer.
For those who did play through the original web version, I have some treats for you as well:
- Tons of new rooms.
- A complete overhaul on the balancing of old rooms and packs
- A brand new ending
- Some new post-game content to mix up your room pool and keep your runs fresh well after you’ve won your first night.

- A ton of quality of life changes
- And finally a huge art overhaul on everything! It’s amazing what you can do when you aren’t constrained to a four-day game jam!

Finally, I want to thank some folks before I wrap things up.
First ,I want to thank the folks over in the Godot community for making the web version possible. In particular, Raul Santos on the Godot team for doing the heavy lifting on web C# builds, and xr0gu3 for their work in making the dev branch more accessible.
It’s far from a smooth process (I ran into a lot of issues where certain logic just wasn’t compatible in the web build for one reason or another), For those curious, you can go check out the progress on their work here.

I also want to thank Mark Brown and the GMTK community for really enjoying the jam build. It still blows my mind how well I did during the jam, and I probably wouldn’t have kept going on this project to begin with.
Anyways, that’s all from me. Happy Drafting!
